A class mate of Hank's had written the President and Hank thought that sounded fun. He had burning questions he had to ask the President. He imagined ole George stretched out on his couch reading letters.
Dear President Bush,
I have some questions for you. Who is your favorite President? My favorite President is you. What did you want to be when you were a kid, besides the President? I want to be an author. What do you do when you have free time? Do you like reading? If you do, what book do you like? You don't have to tell me, but what is the real story how President Lincoln died? Is it easy being President?
My friend Max has been in the white house. When I get old, about 36, I want to go to the white house. This year in school we are learning a lot about Presidents.
From Hank Everyday for a month he asked if the mail had come and if his letter from the President was there. Finally it came and Jerry put it in his room under a light.
He secluded himself away in his room and opened it privately. He even washed his hands first.
He got an autographed color picture of the President and his dog Barney, a letter written on White House stationary, and a full page of circle stickers with Barney's picture on each sticker. It was incredibly exciting. We read the letter over and over. He now has a new list of people he needs to write. He again has "questions".

How fun! Fun questions. I especially love what he says he's going to do when he's old, you know, about 36. Did W answer his questions? What IS the true story of President Lincoln's death?
Good for him--and so good for the Pres. or his secretary to respond.
